이번 서울시에서 주최하는 ‘일일건축설계사무소’는 건축가와 일반인들이 길 위에서 만나는 것입니다. 여기서의 길은 공공의 장소를 말하는 것이며 現實, 現象, 現場을 의미합니다. 건축가들은 이곳에서 사람들과 만나 그들이 가지고 있는 집에 대한 생각과 고민을 묻고 문제에 대해 상의할 것입니다. 또한 집이 어떻게 구상되고, 어떻게 지어지며, 그것을 수행하는 사람들이 누군지를 집을 그릴 때 사용하는 도구와 도판, 건물모형과 함께 보여주려고 합니다.
이번 행사에서 내가 정한 주제는 ‘집 수리’입니다. 흔히 RE-MODELING라고 부르는 것입니다. 집 중에서도 단독주택, 한옥등 주거건축에 초점을 맞추고 있는데 그 이유는 주택이야말로 우리와 가장 가까운 ‘집의 유형’이기 때문입니다. 그런데 이들의 주거환경과 물리적 상태가 심각한 지경입니다. 특히 1980년대에 지어진 보급형 주택들은 구조와 설비의 노후화, 생애주기의 한계, 단열, 소음, 일조권등 거의 모든 부분에서 그 정도가 심각합니다. 그 이유는 날림도 있지만 낡을수록 재건축에 유리했던 것입니다. 그러므로 낡아야 했고 방치해야 했고 멀쩡하지 않음을 스스로 입증해야 했던 것입니다. 그런데 이제는 아파트의 효용이 사라지고 있다고 합니다. 이것은 주택에 대한 또 다른 ‘방임Banlieues’을 암시하는 것입니다. 아파트 외에는 다른 대안을 찾는 것이 쉽지 않기 때문입니다. ‘집 수리’는 이 현상에 대한 대안입니다. 글/김재관

the Street Expo for Architectural Design of Housing
The main focus of the street expo for architectural design of housing that will be held in Seoul is that professional architects and citizens can meet on the street with open, friendly discussion of their requirements.
The street, open and public, stands for listening, discussion, and recommendation for trouble shooting. Architects will share some ideas with brainstorming of housing matters and will show them the process of housing included design, building, and its detailed simulation.
‘집 수리 Jip-soori’
The topic of this event. one of Seoul culture festival, is “집 수리 to consult for the renovation of housing model upon the requirements.” It is commonly called RE-MODELING. Out of many kinds of housing, we will focus on detached houses and ‘HANOK’, for those kinds of housing are the most familiar with us . However, most of the living conditions are not recommendable for us. Especially, the mediocre houses that were built in 1980s at present are not suitable as for construction and facilities, the limitation of life cycle, insulation, noise, and sun lighting. The reason for those problems might be both the fact that those houses are old, and that people deliberately left those houses unfixed to make them qualified for reconstruction. But, now the value of apartments is getting to slow down, which is the sign of another notice that has the ignorance of private houses. because there is no other other choice to solve this situation except for building apartments. One of recommendations is ‘집 수리/ RE-MODELING’ of houses with desire. That is why we are here!! Come and see with joy for Seoul culture festival on August 21th.
